Trail Crew Blasting On Four Mile Trail April 16

Trail Crew is planning to blast on the Four Mile Trail Tuesday, April 16th, approximately one mile up from the valley floor, on the traverse at the base of Sentinel Rock. The Four Mile Trail is currently closed, so blasting operations should not have an impact to park visitors. Site security will still be in place. As always, noise is expected.

Trail Crew is now planning to blast on the Four Mile Trail on Wednesday, April 17th instead of Tuesday. The trail is closed, so there should be no impact to park visitors.

I talked to an information ranger a few days ago. She suggested that the lower trail might stay closed till the upper trail was also safe to reopen. They're apparently concerned about hikers going past the upper gate (just below Union Point) and continuing into avalanche-prone areas.
