Plows have reached Glacier Point, so most of the road crew is now working on Tioga Road. The remaining road crew is plowing parking lots, turnouts, paved trails, etc., and repairing the road. There is no estimated date for opening. The road is open to bicycles only from Chinquapin to Badger Pass. Bicycles are not allowed beyond the ski area. Vehicles are not allowed on any part of the road.

The road is open to bicycles only from Chinquapin to Badger Pass, and will open to bicycles only all the way to Glacier Point on Saturday, May 4.

In the past such openings haven't been for very long.

The entire road is open to bicycles only. Cyclists should watch for road crews at work. Vault toilets may not be available. Water is not available.

We cycled to GP this past weekend. What a privilege to have the opportunity to enjoy the route without motor vehicles. As might be expected, the water flow is noteworthy. It was well worth the effort, IMO.

If you do visit, you'll quickly realize that the road is still in a bit of rough shape. Some loose cold-patch (macadam) is in use, and contrary to what I've read in some reports, the road has not been swept. Use good judgement - and get out there to see GP without a crowd. :-)

Heard on the radio that Glacier Point Road will close at 6pm Wednesday due to the incoming winter storm. It will reopen when conditions are deemed safe.

Glacier Point Road is closing Wednesday, May 15 at 6 pm
Glacier Point Road will close on Wednesday at 6 pm due to an incoming storm. The road will be evaluated for opening once conditions improve.
