CURRENT SITUATION: The fire held at 15 acres overnight. Today crews will construct direct handline around the fire perimeter where possible and safe. Dozers will continue constructing contingency lines to the south of the fire, near Cedar Ridge Subdivision. Last night dozers were able to open up additional access into the fire area, allowing engines and hand crews to get closer to the fire perimeter today. Road access is extremely limited in this very isolated area. The fire is located in the South Fork of the Stanislaus River approximately three miles upstream of the Lost Dutchman Mining Association property in the Grant Ridge (Forest Service Road 3N11) area. The fire is currently only burning on the north side of the river. The US Forest Service is working with Cal Fire resources to suppress the fire. Air support with both fixed wing and helicopter, will continue today to support ground efforts.
The fire has been managed as a full suppression incident from the start. Structure protection is in place for residences in the area and an Advisory Evacuation Order was issued for homes off Forest Road 3N11 and the north side of Cedar Ridge.
Visitors are asked to stay out of this area and all access roads to the fire to avoid interfering with fire crews and equipment supporting suppression efforts.
A Type 1 Fire Incident Management Team has been ordered for the fire and is expected to arrive at noon today. Additional suppression resources have also been ordered.
Weather conditions: Very dry conditions will persist throughout the area and temperatures near 100 degrees are expected to continue for the next several days.
