Big Oak Flat Road is closed; no access to most of Yosemite via Highway 120 from the west

The Big Oak Flat Road is closed west of Merced Grove; there is no access to Yosemite via Hwy 120 from the west (except to Hodgdon Meadow and Hetch Hetchy). Closure is expected to late at least to mid-June or possibly into July

A section of the Big Oak Flat Road west of Merced Grove is compromised. The affected area includes all the west bound lane and part of the east bound lane as well. We currently have the gates locked on Big Oak Flat Road east of the Big Oak Flat Entrance and a temporary gate west of Merced Grove parking lot. We are not allowing the public vehicular access through this area. We are allowing staff to use this section of road for official travel in a government vehicle or to get to their duty station. Vehicles are limited to 8 tons or less. The Big Oak Flat Entrance and Hodgdon Meadow Campground are open to the public.

is the roadway still open to foot and bicycle traffic?

heard from YNP today. closure is "hard closure"--no vehicles, bicycles, or pedestrians.
