Beginning Monday, May 6, an NPS contractor will demolish and remove asphalt in the Happy Isles Loop roadway at Bus Stop #15, requiring a temporary road closure. The road to Upper, North, and Lower Pines campgrounds will remain open. Visitor vehicles will be directed to use the loop road to approach Trailhead Parking Area from the east. For the duration of construction, eastbound shuttle runs will terminate at Curry Village registration before returning westbound. With apologies for the inconveniences, visitor will have to walk or use bicycles to access the Mist Trail, John Muir Trail, and Mirror Lake trailheads. Construction should be completed by May 24, but progress will be delayed by rainy weather or other interruptions.
By "loop road" are you referring to the Happy Isles loop road? If so does this mean that one would be able to reach the trail head parking area (between Curry and Happy Isles) by going up the north side of the loop road starting at the stables and go all the way around to the south (westbound) side to get into the lot? Thus that road will be 2-way?
