Thanks so much for the quick response. The knowledge on this forum of Yosemite and the surrounding area is just unreal, I really appreciate it! I am really up in the air for my second hike while I am there in two weeks. I posted a few weeks ago about hiking from TM to HI but now I am not sure which way I want to go. Thanks again for all of the info!by jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Just curious if anyone here has been to either of the glaciers in Yosemite. How long would it take, overnight hike? I will be there in early September and have been thinking it might be cool to say, when I am an old man (Pretty old now but...) that I have seen and stood on a glacier. From what is seems they all might be gone in a few years. Any info would be very much appreciated, thank youby jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Thanks for the info. Has anyone ever done Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley via this route? Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley Everytrail Two 14 mile days but I think I can handle it. I did Half Dome in a day last year. Maybe even drag it out to three days?by jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Hello Everyone, I will be in Yosemite from Aug. 26th to Sep. 4th. 27, 28, 29 I will be in LYV via Glacier Point, hopefully finally getting Half Dome out of the way and a couple of other hikes out of LYV, Clouds Rest, Diving Board, Liberty Cap. I am looking for another overnight-er and/or a couple of nice day hikes for the rest of my time there. I did May Lake/Mt Hoffman last year during the Mby jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Well I flew back out to Yosemite for a week hoping to finish my half dome climb that I was turned away from because of rain in July and was turned away again because of the fire, what luck... I got in line at the wilderness center on the 7th at 530 am, got exactly what I wanted, 3 days in LYV and half dome permit. Was planning on hiking Clouds Rest and Diving Board also in those three days. Iby jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
You can not see the Mt. Hoffman peak from May Lake. Camped at May Lake Monday night and went up Hoffman Tuesday morning. A little challenging with some rock climbing at the top but we'll worth it. Nice quick hike with great rewards from the top. Took about 4 hours tops.by jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Hello everyone, came here a few weeks ago to get some info on a route to diving board. It looks like my trip is a go. I am going to be in Yosemite September 6-12. Going to try for fcfs lyv 8,9 & 10. Looking to head up to half dome around midnight on the 9th for a supermoon hike. I did half dome in July but was turned back 3/4 of the way up sub dome by rain. Wanting to be at the top fby jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

After sifting through all the routes and info I could find I am thinking lost Lake route as well. Looking at doing diving board, half dome under the super moon, clouds rest and liberty cap if I have the energy over three days. Seems like being based out of lyv this are all in the general area. Right now I am looking into equipment and just general info on spending 3 days, 2 nights in the wby jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
The problem with the trail was when you are heading from Curry down that walk towards the first bridge at the JMT/river there is a sign that says hikers right and almost like a no trespassing sign at the junction to the parking lot so I ended up in the parking lot and took the trail from there to Happy Isles. I am a little unsure about the trail to Diving Board. I have looked at quite a few of thby jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Hello everyone! Found this forum Googling for Half Dome full moon hike info. Alot of good stuff here! So my story..... I visited Yosemite the week of July 8th, won a lottery permit for Half Dome back in April and hiked Tuesday, July 8th. I did not get to the cables because of a storm in the distance. Ranger was at the steps of sub dome checking permits and warning of the storm and you could seby jhc7399 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
