Speaking of GIS and Yosemite, I was curious to see if there are any public-facing ArcGIS servers with Yosemite data. Quotegophersnake Anyone have any pointers on where I could upload .gpx or delimited text files to? I'll bite the bullet and get my own website if I have to... You can host files (except html files) on Google Sites and Google Docs. Both are free. I have some KML/KMZ files on Google Sites and display them with Gmap4. Thanks for using Gmap4. I am the developer of that browser app. The way the map looks when it opens on your screen is controlled by parameters that are part of the link. For example, here is a link that opens the map centered near Yosemite Village. The basemap is the Google terrain map and Google's tilt feature is turn off. http://www.mappingsupport.com/p/gmap4.php?ll=37.744327,-119.589790by Jelf - General Discussion

I have posted here before about Gmap4 which is an enhanced Google map viewer that I developed. Up until this summer I believed that Gmap4 would not work if your mobile browser was offline. I was wrong. If you follow a few simple instructions, many (but not all) of the Gmap4 features will work just fine on a smartphone, tablet or other mobile device when you are offline. Here is the link to the new US forest service Interactive Visitor Map (IVM): http://www.fs.fed.us/ivm/ After missing at least two earlier release dates this new map from the forest service has finally gone ‘live’. The link below starts Gmap4 and displays a map showing the wild fire threat level for California. Red is “very high” and the darker color is “extreme”. There is sure a lot of red! The following link will always display the most perimeter of the Rim Fire straight from the GeoMAC server. This is the same server that also provides data to the crews on the fire line. Sometimes the data on the InciWeb site is not as current as the data that comes from the GeoMAC server. (The InciWeb site gets its data from GeoMAC.) The USGS has split their maps into two groups. 1. Beginning in 2009, the USGS began publishing maps in a new GeoPDF format. These maps are called "US Topo". http://nationalmap.gov/ustopo/ 2. USGS now uses the word "historical" to refer to all maps published prior to the switch to GeoPDFs. First, Gmap4 can now display a new set of very high resolution USA topographic maps that (1) are a better quality image than the MyTopo maps, (2) do not have heavy watermarks obscuring part of the map and (3) do not have any ads.
