Wow, that's one fit 7-yo, if he can manage that trip. Kudos to him/her and you both! My grandson is 8yo, and is a competition swimmer, and runner, but I doubt he could handle such rigor. Just came across this video on YT of four guys out to / and back from Glen Aulin; looks like the dates were just a couple of days ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUs2DUdLFoA What (which) is the deep stream they had to get across? ... Great 'skeeter" pic ... reminds of a little brain-teaser I threw at my 2 grandsons (6yo & 8yo) recently, since they like this kind of sillyness:: I was out hiking and a beautiful flying insect landed right in front of me ... just sat there still for ten minutes .. close enough for me to simply reach out and touch. Good news! Will NPS normally post official "clearance" to things lke the Glen Aulin trail ... Lyell Canyon trail ....etc., etc. ... at some point? I've always found water up there at Smokey Jack Meadows (that's what one ranger said is the name for that broad meadow midway betwee Glen Aulin HSC and McCabe Lakes Junction).
