1. Outlet of Vernon was up to my ribz 2 weekends ago. Passable? ok. Lots of peeps. Everything will be down by now. 2. No. anything about 9K figure almost all snow 8700 ft. lakes were boatable last weekend. above that. not so much 3. No. But getting there. RPP looked fun. It'll hold snow thru labor day imo. 4. Pate bridge won't be fixed for awhile Vernon:by chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
As you know... Coe is a backpackers paradise. Over 9K is snow. Conditions vary so much. I looked at your JMT from last year. You had perfect conditions. You should do again in current conditions imo. It's very different. Be safe though. We'll be out there somewhere too.by chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
A - 41/42 is old? sigh B - slog? sigh C - I agree w/DavidK. To falls is pretty nice w/ not a lot of steep. After that... it varies. I've done it many times. First time was just dayhike after doing Maripose Grove to the old Museum. So not that difficult imo. Also did almost exact same as what bper is asking. Camp near top of falls... next day.. I think... Peeps do all kinds a things here. You can ask anything... Within reason. Humor maybe doesn't convey too well over this thing. Have fun If you do it. Come back and say how it was. fwiw.... you MAY have trouble finding the trail at points.. but you already said you were ok getting lost... right? What "we" are about? Bummer that the OHV trail is closed. For those interested.. this is interesting: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd606564.pdf MAYBE they cleaned the trail from Cathewood Saddle to Canty Meadow due to the fire. So it MAY be nice. It MAY be a nightmare. It wasn't bad before the fire. We did it twice in early 2018. By did it Iby chick-on - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Wishful thinking. Unfortunately few know you. So they will read your post and think you a sourpuss. I waaaah na have a fire. Ranger said I could! They don't know you. How much you care so very much. It's only a wittle bitty fire. It's ok. Sigh. Look on bright side. It's going to be a short season for most. It's a mindset I think. Perpetuated by media. Pristine area. Ostrander will have snow. You'd have to cross Chilnualna to get to Crescent. Unless you resourceful … (I'm putting this here for the nit pickers since I'm assuming you'd take all trail from the south and loop around up and over BV Pass) (which is only what makes sense) (and you only mentioned Ostrander b/c it's in the middle of it all) You'd go over 10K to go over BV Pass. Most people camp at the first 3 lakes. The one S of the trail … then the first two n of the trail.. The last big one is a climb back out … maybe not as picturesque. In the past we have seen people way off the trail... (don't follow us btw) So... make sure you are comfortable traveling without knowing exactly where trail is. Probably there will be signs at the trailhead saying so... orby chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Sure. As you found out … not much burn after Bunnell Cascade... The number of trees down over the trail above you was … yum... JMTers gonna love... Thought this was interestingly fun... on May 4 trip... Have funby chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Ok, I'll bite. My best guess right now … with all my knowledge and power. (don't take me toooo seriously) Is that Ten Lakes Basin will be nearly 100% snow covered into July. Getting to Murphy from Ten Lakes involved cross SF Cathedral which will be interesting then and the trail up from there (from the xing) will be covered in snow then and if you haven't done before will probably be veby chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
