I still think that goes against the spirit of the law, if not the letter to snap up as many permits as possible in an attempt to trade. Anyone who does that is forcing lots of people into this scalpers' market.by mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I do find the Mist Trail to be something you have to be really paying attention to in high flow on the descent. The steps are pretty wide, but they can be really slick, and of course crowds complicate things. If you descend this trail it is an absolute must to have shoes/boots with good grip. I can understand if you'd rather not do it, in which case you could get to the same waterfalls taking theby mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
What is your reaction to this post, for example? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/for/2387833582.html If this guy has all these dates to trade, it's pretty clear he's a scalper. I'll definitely flag trades like this every time I see them. TOO LATE: got taken down. The post I was referring to was someone trying to trade dates in 3 concurrent weeks for a specific date. QuoteWickett Also the Half Dome permits are allowed to be traded or transferred, just not sold or auctioned. Let's play by the rules, we are trying to get them enforced. After thinking about this point a bit, I don't find it unreasonable to assume a transaction will almost certainly be a sale on craigslist. Every little bit helps if you can flag the links we find. I think we've become pretty efficient at listing things so you won't have to go looking on craigslist, though of course if you want to take the time for that it would also be welcome.by mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Unfortunately, I cannot guess intent from someone's story they type into the ad. Having to flag things is a lousy solution, but the park isn't doing anything (at least this year) to ensure reservations are kept away from the scalpers. Even if the person requesting isn't just trying to game the system, it doesn't matter much in the big picture. I'm wondering if people are not flagging those ads looking to buy, because they're not really getting removed. I certainly think those trying to buy online are guilty of the problem also, and I'd like to encourage everyone to report all buyers.
