i was watching a segment on t.v. the other day, and the question was... "what animal (in the U.S.) kills more people every year than any other by far?" i thought it was a dog, but it turns out it's a deer! there are more deer attacks and deer accidents than many animals combined. i had no idea that deer would attack humans, i knew Elk would, but BAMBIE? lol so yesterday when i wasby forrestranger - General Discussion
El Capitan - October 27, 2007by forrestranger - General Discussion
i went camping with my son last night and stayed most of the day today, i just got home a couple of hours ago. the Valley roads are all messed up imo (roads re-routed, blocked off etc)... there were 8 climbers on El Capitan (3 different groups)... i watched one group reach the top (that must be such a thrill!!) we walked this morning to the base of El Capitan to see what it looks like up closeby forrestranger - General Discussion
thanks for the correction :-) is it worth the drive up there if i'm only going to stay a few hours? can you see Half Dome from there?by forrestranger - General Discussion
maybe that's what i'm thinking of.... i thought it was a part of Yosemite though.by forrestranger - General Discussion
all the times i've been to Yosemite, i've yet to go to Kennedy Meadows... is it still open this time of year? i'll be coming in from Hwy 120... do i enter the park and then turn left where the gas station is at Crane Flat? and is the gas station open now? and is the road to Glacier Point still open? thanks for any help Post Edited (10-25-07 16:39)by forrestranger - General Discussion
people need to use common sense... there is too much government in our lives as it is. i'm sure the monies spent on this could be justified better in another area of the city / county (like global warming lol).by forrestranger - General Discussion
nice photos Gary!!! i plan on going the second week of Oct. i'll post a few photos from that trip.by forrestranger - General Discussion
the colors in the Valley will be best in October? the second week? i bought a new camera and want to time it right for the fall colors.by forrestranger - General Discussion
i just purchased the book tonight at Barnes & Nobles. looking forward to it. 9/22/07: wow! i can't believe how many people have died from falling down Vernal, Nevada and Upper Yosemite Falls! skimming through the book, it's absolutely amazing how many people have died in the park... very very interesting book. hope that's a good sign of having a great winter.by forrestranger - General Discussion
letterknit; when sizing one's feet for these boots, should you allow a little bit bigger size if you plan on wearing thick winter (wool) socks? http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7175145/c/24119.htmlby forrestranger - General Discussion
alright! nice to hear someone actually made it for once. lolby forrestranger - General Discussion
all the falls in the Valley are pretty much gone now, so i doubt the Mist Trail has much of a mist (if any).by forrestranger - General Discussion
yikes, doesn't sound good.by forrestranger - General Discussion
about a year ago, you could ride your bike to Mirror Lake (and i don't think it has changed).. the fun part about riding up there is coming back down (when it's not a busy day with people in the park) , cuz you can go flying down the steep road FAST. lol i've done it many times with my son. you can also drive a car there if you have a handicap license plate. looks like we have a hijacker. this guy is posting the same link on numerous posts.by forrestranger - General Discussion
if anyone recognizes this view, you'll now that it has been so over grown in the last few years, that you can no longer see the river. sucker trees have shot up to block this wonderful view. i wish the park would cut them back.by forrestranger - General Discussion
sorry if this is off topic, but i was wondering if anyone could recommend some snow boots (or any kind of boot) that i could purchase. i'd be using them to walk around Yosemite Valley in the snow in the winter.. not for hiking, but just to walk around the meadow below El Capitan.by forrestranger - General Discussion
October in Yosemite is wonderful for colors. http://www.geocities.com/forrestyosemite/one.htmlby forrestranger - General Discussion
http://www.yosemitefun.com/tuolumne_meadows_saddlebag.htm i've never been here, and was wondering if bicycles were allowed on the trail, and if it was a good idea or not? i wouldn't want to break any rules or upset any visitors.by forrestranger - General Discussion
