Thursday, July 31 ? Just to clarify. Grouse Lake doesn't have a maintained trail to it anymore. So you MAY have trouble even finding it. Crescent Lake is quickly becoming a meadow. You MAY not find it too exciting. Johnson Lake is actually quite beautiful. But... some may think otherwise. There is no question about Royal Arch. Thus my comments in your other thread. Rock Creek requires either using the bear boxes in the backcountry …. or your own. So if only for first night and you are staying at Cottonwood and not going into Sequoia... then you could use the Ursack… otherwise... no. We use Ursack to supplement when allowed. Or in winter when a can not required. But 99.9 take the Bearikade since we love the bears in the Sierra and want them wild.by chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Great to see you out there exploring! We did a great trip in that area over July 4th timeframe. We spoke of you a few times on that trip looking for blazes. Well, keeping eyes out for blazes. We never did find any.... but we were mostly on ridges. So many neat rocks though. Tamarack Creek campground had just opened for the season so we took advantage of it... Google doesn't allow links like that. They don't remain static. So the general user not logged into your google account can't see your picture. No worry. My assumption was what I said and correct. Everything I said after that I still stand by. QuoteLJK123 Thanks. I am taking the Backpackers bus back to Tuolumne Meadows from Yosemite Valley. I am guessing it drops us off near where we parked. Right. Ooops. Um. Yosemite Creek is not Tuolumne Meadows. But the bus would drop you off at Ten Lakes/Yosemite Creek trailhead. I guess you may want to park your car there instead. You'll have to ford Yosemite Creek about a mile in.by chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Map not visible. Have to assume YOSEMITE Creek. So hiking down Yosemite Creek and then heading East and down Snow Creek Trail. Drive down to Yosemite Creek Campground and park and start there. Unless you are a trail quest and want to ford Yosemite Creek and then walk thru the campground and ask yourself why you didn't drive down here. You will have to cross a feeder creek maybe a mileby chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Wow! I'd highly recommend just going into Yosemite Valley. Dunno about alot of ur route wr to Rd condition but quickly looking... Lumsten is road closed before crossing Tuolumne. Good luck. We had a LOT of road damage in 2018 that may affect your route. Wow though! V cool! Have fun!!!by chick-on - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Yeah, dunno. As blop said... We hiked the road pre Ferguson. And it wasn't bad. In so much... we did it 3 times. One up and back down... one up and out Yosemite West. I stand by what I said in original post w/r to your route from Yosemite West. (there's no other real route with the current trail closures) (and you def. do not want to NOT take Cold Canyon Rd. if going along Pinoche Ridge)by chick-on - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Yep. Honestly... if I were on a bike... and knowing what we know... There is no way I would NOT have a very leisurely (almost all downhill) … very fun ride … from Yosemite West... down Wawona into Yosemite Valley... have a break in El Cap Meadow... then continue down to El Portal and beyond. I'd get to Brown Peak Road (or Cold Canyon Road if that's it's real name)… look at it for aby chick-on - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

That is their home? They looked at stars all last night? The kids wanted different entertainment other than Brave Sir Robin playing his Euk-i-la-lee ? Cool beans. There were a HUGE number of cars at Ten Lakes TH and Porc TH and and and… over the 4th. We were thinking of doing Ten Lakes over the 4th timeframe but decided to do some other exploring. It was gorgeous with almost no mosquitoes and perfect weather. I would give it a F (for Fabulous) I'd at least give the leader a passing grade.by chick-on - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
If EYE was taking someone... I would take them to Royal Arch or BV Peak. I wouldn't take them to Grouse or Crescent unless I wanted to hear them grouse. Then again... sometimes you gotta be cruel to be kind. We were in the BV area boating some Chilly lakes a few weekends ago... And, call me crazy, but I simply loved it. I was solo this trip. Didn't do the loop. Wapama was roaring... Even Vernon outlet was yummy... I was prepared... Wanted to see the outlet of Branigan SCREAMING. Falls Creek was...
