<HTML>A new fire is now burning to the north of Bishop on Sherwin Grade. They are calling this the "Birch Fire". It started this morning along Birch Creek and quickly spread to over 1000 acres. <HTML>Spent yesterday in the valley. I hope that the repairs to these sewerlines are finished before the main thrust of tourist starts. The trafic is already bad in the area where the detour is and I expect it will only get worse. Also there is alot of noise from the work crews in the area just across from Bridalviel Falls. Lake Mary Road is open. It is plowed as far as Lake Mamie and is plowed around Lake Mary. Lake Mary still has alot of ice on it with some open water on the inlet side. Lake Mamie is still frozen. Just wanted to let everyone know that hiking out of Horseshoe Meadow should be pretty godd right now. I was up there yesterday and it was beautiful. There is no snow at the trailhead and the snow line is pretty high on the peaks. The snowline from Bishop south is moving up every day and the mountains are calling!!by SBTopHat - General Discussion
