Did they have gasoline in TM on a normal year? I don't remember seeing it for awhile, perhaps they're reiterating so people don't forget? Not looking good for the other campsites not mentioned in this post. The pass looks clear, but someone posted a picture of saddleback lake the other day, so much snow.by eLeMeNOhPee - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Caltrans posted on their Instagram that the 120 West between Lee Vining and the eastern entrance is now openby eLeMeNOhPee - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Looking like at least another month I'd have to guess, just a guess, but then again I was shocked to read at least one lane is plowed all the way to the eastern entrance. I always wonder at what point do they just give up. I guess they're in too deep to do that now, not to mention they need to get this stuff repaired before next winter and it becomes to large of a task. Seems like a lot of work tby eLeMeNOhPee - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
June 30, 2023 (updated every Friday) At least one lane is plowed along the length of Tioga Road, although the Olmsted Point avalanche zone is still active and dangerous. More plowing, tree work, road work, and sign replacement is still required before the road can open. Additionally, restrooms must be available before the Tioga Road can open to the public. Restrooms are necessary to protect puby eLeMeNOhPee - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
June 27, 2023. Snow removal is finished on State Route 120 W up to the gate of Yosemite. Shoulders and parking spots have been cleared. Lee Vining maintenance crews are now focused on rock work at the Blue Slide area of the highway. This process, along with the guardrail repair, is expected to last into mid-July. June 22, 2023 (updated every Friday) Crews are continuing to work in the Olmsted Point area in thick ice, which has been exceptionally challenging (dozers are ineffective, so crews are using excavators to break up the ice so the blowers can plow it). Avalanche danger at Olmsted Point remains a concern. There is road damage at Olmsted Point, 10 miles west of Olmsted Point, and near Tamarackby eLeMeNOhPee - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Quoterecycling1991 QuoteeLeMeNOhPee I was planning on going this weekend, the 10-11, but now there's 60% chance of rain and Tstorms. Really don't want to cancel but my companion is concerned about being outside in the rain for 2 days since we're camping. I feel like it'll be one of those very scattered storms with little rain. Any advice? I would go and then if it's miserable, come home early.by eLeMeNOhPee - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quotechick-on I'd say your biggest concern is getting a permit... Is clouds rest doable now? From Sunrise TH? Well i mean, how much snow is on the trail?by eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
You think the road will even be open by then?by eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
We ended up shuffling plans around, and getting the permit the day before. We just jumped at rainbow pools all day, then made the drive over to the station to get permits. Hiked white mountain just as the map showed, very easy. Everything worked out. Didn't do Matthes or Kuna, Next time.... Thanks again yallby eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Quotechick-on The ridge south of Young Lakes... I went up White via the red line here... (ish) The north face will be holding some snow... but it should be pretty do-able... imo... getting up on the ridge... even if you don't go up White... will (and IS) stellar! I marked the ridge in black... have done a fair bit of it... but not all... w/r to permits... um... you will save aby eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Quotechick-on (the ridge is better though... fo sho) The ridge to the north of white? Is that photo taken looking back (south) at white mtn?by eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Quotemrcondron Quotechick-on It doesn't matter which entrance station you enter at. Since Thursday morn you have good shot. But you never know... there could be group from previous day that nabs them all... Why not get the permits for Young Lakes the day before? We are staying at Crane Flat until Thursday morning. Wednesday we have plans and dont want to waste half a day standing in line tby eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
My only question now is availability on getting a permit for 4 on a thursday morning at 8am. Any input?by eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Any advice on how your trip went? Specifically the cathedral area?by eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Hello. I have a few questions for my upcoming trip. I will be leaving July 16. Trying to figure a few things out. Any info is greatly appreciated. Every year I come to yall for advice, and I thank you again. Want to ask about trail conditions going to Matthes lake from Cathedral TH. Will it be muddy, boggy, and flooded past the Cathedral pass going toward Echo to Matthes? Last year it wasby eLeMeNOhPee - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
