Both Tahoe and Eldorado National Forests have a Long Lake. Tahoe's Long is just below Grouse Ridge, and Eldorado's is in the Mokelumne Wilderness. I like 'em both, but neither comes close to the some you've posted. Love the Long Lake in the Emigrant (pic #5)!by DaveF - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Quotelschaaf I'm going to be coming through this area on the PCT in a couple weeks. I thought camping wasn't allowed at Five Lakes, or is this bad info. Looks very nice. There are two "Five Lakes" in the Tahoe NF. This one is in the Grouse Lakes area north of I-80 off the Bowman Lake Road. Camping is definitely allowed. I've yet to find a more attractive setting in the northern Sby DaveF - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
hikerchick's photo and report would suggest that the correct word to describe the bridge is now "destroyed" rather than "damaged". I'd think that a large percentage of the wood members wouldn't be reusable in this condition.by DaveF - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
One note on my photo above: It's not obvious in the picture I posted, but the roundabout has only three legs. There's no fourth leg heading west into the trees. The map Troutwild posted above is more clear. To access the Lodge and park exits, you have to take the loop that wraps around the parking area.by DaveF - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. For a real world view of the new roundabout and loop around the parking area, here's a photo I took yesterday from the Four-Mile Trail:by DaveF - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
