When does Tuolumne Meadows campground close for the season?by sierranomad - General Discussion
I hope you find the owner. It's encouraging when you hear of someone who doesn't think "finders, keepers"by sierranomad - General Discussion

Yes, you can do it. When I hike from Tuolumne to the Valley I do it as you plan on.by sierranomad - General Discussion
Yes, it's employee housing. Kind of funny (and I don't mean to be too negative here). But I saw a sign that gave the reasons why this employee housing was of benefit to visitors to Yosemite...one of the reasons given was that it made the employees happier and therefor more friendly to the visitors. Ironically, on that visit the park employees I ran across were the rudest I'd ever experienced.by sierranomad - General Discussion
If I remember correctly, the bus only takes about 2 1/2 hours (give or take). Here's the problem I've found with leaving my car in the Valley. 1) You need to have your permit before you park your car (so you can put parking permit on dash) 2) Wilderness Center opens at 7:30 or 8:00; and there could be a long line. 3) Bus leaves at 8:30. 4) The Backpacker parking lot is a LONG walk (and couby sierranomad - General Discussion

I like Mike's suggestion with the sign. Its message seems like it should go without saying, but same with the sign at the top of Vernal Fall that warns you not to get in the river because you could go over the fall and die. It should be enough to get people to stop and think about what they're doing. I don't really understand letterknits' idea; it's early and I haven't had my coffee yetby sierranomad - General Discussion
Climbing half dome is safe as it is. I have a fear of heights, yet climbing the cables does little more than make my heart beat a little faster. How can I say it is safe, in view of the recent fatality? If you exercise common sense and pay due attention to the climb, you will be OK. When I climb Half Dome, I ALWAYS have a firm grip on the cable with at least one hand, conscious of the possibilityby sierranomad - General Discussion
