May 23, 2019 Good afternoon, Crane Flat campground will open on a first come first serve basis this Friday, May 24. Prospective campers should go directly to Crane Flat campground to obtain a site; cash or check are the only payment options. May 21, 2019 Crews have plowed through the Olmsted Point avalanche zone and are working in the Tenaya Lake area. Crews will continue to monitor the avalanche zones as weather warms. Mono County crews have plowed one mile west from Tioga Pass. Snowpack in the Tuolumne River basin was at 149% of average this year as of May 1. Heard on the radio that Glacier Point Road will close at 6pm Wednesday due to the incoming winter storm. It will reopen when conditions are deemed safe. The remaining road crew is plowing parking lots, turnouts, paved trails, etc., and repairing the road. There is no estimated date for opening. Falls Creek Flowrate Plot The link above is a plot of the last three years flowrate at Falls Creek. You can modify the number of days you want plotted at the bottom. I'm not sure what at what level the Wapama Falls bridge becomes dangerous to cross. The only data point I have is when we visited in early July of 2017. Amazing that you can see all the way across the park to Mt. Conness from that location. 40+ miles laterally and 2+ miles vertically! I suppose it helps that the sight line roughly parallels the Tuolumne River and especially the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne.
