Only time will tell if there will be plea deal. Certainly, it is not automatic. Next court proceedings Oct 14 http://www.fresnobee.com/2014/08/15/4072012/main-suspected-of-starting-rim.html#storylink=misearchby cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Tilley, I agree with you. Finally. Been waiting a long time, understanding the identity of the hunter who started the fire was known.by cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
ABC Channel 7 news in SF had a long segment on how the Rim fire is NOT impacting the park. "All's fine. Come on up. DO NOT CANCEL YOUR RESERVATIONS." The park is large. Appeared more like an advertisement than a news report. Virtually no word on the area being hit hard by the fire, nor about the camps and structures that may be destroyed. Nor anything about the Hetch Hetchy. Iby cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I've been trying to use the DNC website to modify reservations. It doesn't seem to be working; recognizes neither my reservation number I have in front of me from reservation made last year nor my email address to which reservation confirmation was sent. Anyone know if the darned beast is out of juice? Why have a website if it does not work? Thank you.by cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Each person, ie. hiker, is different! Some hike alone because they want to. Others hike alone because there is no one with whom to walk. Some want to talk; others do not, etc.by cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Great!! Deaths and law suits means road gets improved! Wish that were always the case! It is not in my neck of the woods. But hopefully it will not change the CA Vehicle Code specific to the Old Priest Grade: 35715.1. (a) The County of Tuolumne may by ordinance prohibit the use of Old Priest Grade in that county by a vehicle or combination of vehicles that exceeds a weight limit of 7,50by cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. WHAT???? Old Priest Grade to be upgraded????? Hey there is even a legal exemption for that road. Hope it is not reconstructed into one that is up to code!by cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I hear Tuolumne Meadows is one huge lake. I assume that means with mosquitoes abundant, seeking blood. Has the snow really melted yet? So instead of crunch crunch, it is squish squish? Thanks!by cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
See, if you had been INSIDE (watching TV), they would have left you alone. Damned beasties mucking up the outside fun.by cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Mosquito borne encephalitis used to be a huge problem in the Central Valley in California. But research done at UC by William Reeves et al showed that the decrease in the disease was primarily caused by people going indoors to watch T.V. instead of sitting outside on the porch. So pack a T.V. set and sit in your tent after sunset. Or soak yourself in repellant.by cooperhawk - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
