We have a winner! Thanksby David and Karen - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks - I'm not sure that would work - it looks like it would take longer to reach the core of the park from there then it would from the BLM land on the Eastern side. I find it hard to believe that their aren't hordes of late arrivals who spend the night in parking lots, picnic areas and along random dirt roads close to the main highway.by David and Karen - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Arriving at the park late on a Saturday afternoon is unavoidable. There are no legit camping opportunities available anywhere near the park (trust us - we checked) Where could one go to get a little shut eye? - Especially West of the park if that is even possible.by David and Karen - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I fully expect the Vallley & Glacier Point etc. to be crowded however is there a noticeable difference w/r/t vehicular traffic and campsite availability on Saturday/Sunday vs Monday? FYI I'm talking about this coming weekend. Thanksby David and Karen - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I found a pic on Flickr of Big Pine Lakes from the 15th - all but 5th Lake is melted out - I've also had this confirmed by first hand experience The best I've found for Ansel Adams was a first hand account for Ediza - mostly frozen this past weekend and lots of snow . We are going to try and push our permits back a few days and hope for the best. It's not the snow that bothers us but the poby David and Karen - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
We're having a real hard time finding current information about the condition in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. I understand that there is plenty of snow still around and creek crossings are high but how about the lakes themselves? I see that Tioga Lake and Ellery Lake were both melted out last week and they are at a similar elevation - is this a good barometer at all for what we can expect?
