Quoteplawrence And before you leave for Yosemite, I'll also suggest that you phone the Yosemite Campgrounds Office (209-372-8502) and ask for their recommendation on where to park the third car. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a very practical location where to park it close to the Crane Flat Campground. There even might be a location within the campground itself where it could be parked leby clankfu - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quotebalzaccom Check with the rangers when you enter the park. There is a parking area just outside of the park on the Big Oak Flat Road....it's on the right as you enter. Thank you!by clankfu - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Crane Flat has a 2 car maximum so I was wondering if there was overnight parking nearby for our 3rd car. Preferably close to Crane Flat but if not, the Valley would be fine. Any recommendations?by clankfu - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quotetraildad The Weather Channel has text message weather reports. Sign up and enter 95389 to get Yosemite weather. It is a valley report I assume, but Half Dome is so close to the valley I would think rain for Half Dome would be in the report. I camped at Sunrise Creek and had cell reception. QuoteBearproof An easy one to get to...from the Tuolumne Meadows wilderness permit station parking lot, head due south on a use trail, around the west side of Puppy Dome a couple hundred yards, maybe, to the Dana Fork of the Tuolumne. There is a pretty little swimming hole below a 4 or 5 foot drop off in the stream. Quotemrcondron Quoteclankfu What's the best way to stay updated on weather while hiking Half Dome? Is there a particular Twitter feed or website that sends out the most up to date and accurate info? And hows the cell phone reception up there? A walkie-talkie with NOAA broadcast capability. Quotettilley Quoteclankfu Can someone recommend a nice spot? Already have! I enjoyed swimming in Matthes Lake when I backpacked there in Late July, mentioned it in my 'trip report/pictures' post. Tenaya Lake's nice as well, I like the small granite outcrop along the road towards the southwest end of the lake, but not all the way southwest. I've enjoyed Young Lakes, Ten Lakes... Quoterobinjayp Going down was a little slippery. We all had great traction boots and still slippery. The great rubber gloves were much appreciated! At this point the cables were pretty croweded (more than I expected) and going down took longer than we had hoped. Without the traffic going up and down, we could have shaved an hour off our time.
