The past few years I have had the same experience. In fact one year there was no attendant at the gate, so we just went to our site and set up. Nobody ever came by to say anything to us...except the normal warnings on bears. I agree it is a pretty sweet way of checking in to the site!by Dan-O - General Discussion

Hello Everyone! I already know that pets are not allowed on MOST of the hiking trails and all of the "wilderness" areas. I also know of the regulations like pets allowed on paved trails only. What I was wondering.....Is there a list of trails that do allow pets on them? I just want my puppy to enjoy Yosemite as much as I do....while staying within the rules. Thanks for the help!by Dan-O - General Discussion

Hello! I saw that someone on here posted a photo of 2 deer at their window looking in at their cat. I am wondering if that was actually that persons photo? I have received 2 seperate emails stating that differen't people took that photo. The latest one was suposed to be in Provo, Ut. Just curious? Danby Dan-O - General Discussion
Hello! I was wondering if the backpackers campground in the valley, i believe by North Pines campground, fills up on weekend nights in early August. I already know that having a wilderness permit is needed to stay there. I plan on staying there the night before I hike Half Dome, and the night after I finish. Also, is there fire pits in the area? Thanks for the help! Danby Dan-O - General Discussion

I am camping in the valley at the end of March and was wondering if the Upper Yosemite Falls trail will be open. Will I be able to make it all the way to the top, if my legs hold up? Or, is there too much ice? Or it is closed? Thanks! Dan-Oby Dan-O - General Discussion

Last year at Mirror Lake we heard a squirrel making a ton of noise. I went to see what it was freaking out about only to see a HUGE rattlesnake approaching the trail. That snake must have been 4-5 feet long!!! So I guess you should be careful where ever you are in the park. Post Edited (07-05-07 16:57)by Dan-O - General Discussion
Hello Everyone! I am planning to climb half dome in late Aug or Sept on a weekend. I'm looking to hike the first day to a campsite, summit the next day (hopefully before the mad rush of day hikers), then return to my car and leave that same day. As of now I can not get a wilderness permit leaving from the valley or Glacier Point (I am aware I can wait in line the day prior, but I am unable to aby Dan-O - General Discussion
