QuoteDave Apparently some here don't understand the position I am putting forth. All I can say is that if you make an unsafe pass; you are the one creating the dangerous situation. That's not my opinion, it's the law. No, ANY law enforcement unit, local, park, state, will NOT pass 20 cars to pull over one slow driver. It's just not safe. I don't disagree with your first point. QuoteDave So, you want LE to risk their lives because you have been inconvenienced for a few minutes? It's the speeders than kill, not the slow drivers. Drunk drivers kill, not slow ones. Those passing slow drivers on corners and passing on the double yellow are the ones creating the danger, not the slow driver. They made the choice to do something dangerous, not the slow driver. Awesome! What a great trip. I would love to do this with my boys. Am I understanding correctly that at some point you used your own climbing rope to get off of the cable route because of the slickness? Was that your intent from the beginning and the reason you brought the rope on the trip? I ask because I would rather avoid bringing a full rope. I agree its not "safe" for any age. But I would rather hike the Mist Trail with a 3 year old than a 6-12 year old. Of course it depends on the kid but from the description this won't be the kid's first rodeo and the parents seem to understand the risks. The age issue for me is that it is much easier to pick up and carry a three year old than a six year old through the more dangerousby chicagocwright - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

It's amazing that we start taking these things for granted. I have moose like this right outside my house almost weekly. My first few months in Alaska I carried a camera with me EVERYWHERE! I sit in my living room watching TV and have on occasion spotted an eagle. On Christmas Morning we had a moose visit, circled our house, and let me take a picture of him six feet from my front door. A dime a dozen yes. But I never get tired of seeing them. Or the moose. But my parents actually very recently saw an eagle in Fresno-San Joaquin River Parkway!
