Summary after-action: Sunday 03 Sept fog, wind, drizzle-rain, forecast to increase. Visibility at Olmstead Point 12 feet. We opted to scrub the hike. Interesting that there were 12 or 15 vehicles at the trailhead with groups adjusting rain-gear and heading out. Figured with no view of The Valley we decided to await next-time. Impact or smoke of the Pika fire were not evident from the trailh

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Confession. I was told by an Aramark agent the decision was final. Now I am told by a supervisor that the decision is TBD for ALL of the High Camps. Not certain. Still "up in the air". Apologies. Premature. They still do not allow reservations for 2024.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Ahh Aramark. 'Just learned they will NOT be operating Tuolumne Meadows Lodge or White Wolf Lodge again in 2024! At this point the remainder of the High Sierra Camps are TBD. Perhaps high-cost high-skill low-profit operations? Sad to say.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion We are planning to do Porcupine Creek Trailhead to Top of Yosemite Falls to the Valley Floor. Map shows creek crossings at Yosemite Creek as well as Lehamite Creek and Porcupine Creek. My concern is creek crossings, especially Yosemite Creek. Are there established bridges? Did they survive this winter's snowpack? What to expect? Plan to do this in September 2023.
