Did you log on to ReserveAmerica or Recreation.gov? It's been a long time when you could actually do a federal recreation reservation through the ReserveAmerica website. You have to do it directly through Recreation.gov. They're kind of linked since you can check availability, but then it would send you to Recreation.gov for final booking, and the login is separate.
That being said, there a

Quotey_p_wThis has got to be the most tone deaf thing I've seen a major company do in a long, long time. It's going to cost them more than the $51 million they were hoping to get from Aramark.
They don't care. DNC already has a bad reputation, but they don't care. They still make millions, billions?, in profit. THAT is all they care about.

QuotemrcondronDoesn't a bill of attainder require some sort of crime be involved?
Yep: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_of_attainder
A change of trademark law certainly wouldn't qualify.
Sounds more like ex post facto, which I believe is limited for civil issues.

Yes, Xanterra did it and then backed down. http://skift.com/2015/05/07/xanterra-backs-down-on-effort-to-trademark-grand-canyon-landmarks/
I remember the whole MCA thing. I have to think that the intent of a contract requiring the next concessionaire to "buy" the trade mark from the current concessionaire is to allow them the ability to use those names for merchandis

I'm amazed that the government didn't already own all those names, particularly the historic ones like Wawona and Ahwahnee. If what the DNC says is true, that they had to purchase trademarks owned by the previous company (Yosemite Camp and Curry?) then why not make Aramark do the same?

it is actually Yosemite Park and Curry Co. And this would be a good time to go back and have them run things again!
Yeah - I found myself cleaning that up posting about this somewhere else. However, there are a bunch of names that some people might not instantly understand, such that MCA/Universal was the owner, and when they got sold out to Matushita (Panasonic) they were forc

I am not saying that the park service doesn't share in the blame because they should have included in their contracts a clause preventing this not only in Yosemite but in other national parks. DNC also is claiming copyright to the trademark for the name of the Kennedy Space Center and I am just waiting for the backlash if that happens.

NPS claims that they were never notified by DNC that they were trademarking those names. I think that NPS has a good case that they applied for the trademarks in bad faith. I think NPS would have sought to block it had they had the opportunity.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I looked it up, and "The Awahnee" was first trademarked in 1988 by the Yosemite Valley & Curry Company. The address was in Universal City, so it was under the MCA ownership.
Then I found Wawona trademarked in 2003 and 2002. "Yosemite Lodge" was trademarked in 2002, but only for a specific logo. Badger Pass was trademarked less than 15 years ago. I would think that a

Thank you for your input. We will definitely go check out the Campground office in the Valley when we get in. General Discussion How do you plan on managing the trade? It's not really possible to transfer reservations to another party after the crackdown on campsite reservation scalping. The trick that the scalpers used was to cancel then immediately try to rebook the site because it went right back into the recreation.gov inventory. That no longer works because once a campsite reservation is cancelled, it would have to

I didn't see the articles about this going to trial, but there's been a verdict via a bench trial. Hesterberg was awarded $50,000 in compensatory and pain/suffering damages by a federal judge. Haven't heard that story before, but I totally believe it.
I agree that there is a 'problem' or issue. My disagreements and points of concern are how significant of a problem is it, if it warrants a separate uniform, if a separate uniform will solve the problem while not creating new ones and how much will it cost. It is my belief that it isn't that big of an issue, the separate

Interesting. I don't necessarily see the issue as LE rangers have guns, etc and regular rangers don't so I'm not sure how much the uniform would change matters as the guns are fairly apparent. Visitors not taking them seriously I think is systematic of something else, not necessarily the uniform. Visitors should listen to what non-LE rangers tell them too right?

I don' t have it handy, but recently read an article about the explosion of bears in Ca, also. There is a higher population now than 100 years ago.
They are hunted state-wide, particularly in the National Forests. Last year the voters voted to outlaw the use of dogs. I don't believe trapping or baiting has been allowed for a long time.
That was actually two years ago.
