Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I don't know much about Mono Pass and if it's mid-week, you might be able to score a walk-in permit for other trips within the park.
Cathedral lakes is one of the options and others can probably chime in with more inputs.

Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra Some great tips here and I don't have anything to add to that. Lyell/Raferty will probably have snow in July, not that I am recommending snowshoes at that time of the year unless it's a very heavy snow year. You will know the accurate snow levels by the end of April.
Another option, though not as fun as going though high sierras, is to string Pohono and Panorama trail together. Just something

A bobcat was guarding the entrance to heaven, aka the rockpile.

Any recommendations for a quick overnight (12am - 6am) spot for dispersed camping before picking up the permits from Mono Basin Visitor Center. Going there this Friday and wondering whether anyone has recommendations for dispersed camping spots around Lee Vining or Sonora Pass. Ideally not too far beyond Mono Basin Visitor Center as I am com

Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra Totally! I recheck first-aid kit every couple of years and didn't know until a few years back that the hand-warmers have a shelf life and expiry date. Thankfully we had just reached DeweyPoint from the tunnel v and it wasn't too cold.
Your reminder about a thorough check totally makes sense.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Quotechick-on
We were at Cathedral Lakes two weekends ago.
Mo-skee-toez were a 11/10.
Day hiked there on July 13th. Mosquitoes were bad on the Cathedral Lakes trail and at the east side of the lake. Not too bad in the swamp

Anyone able to book TM campsites this morning? My experience has been frustrating to say the least.
Edit to add: Guess all it took to get through was to post this... just now got my reservation to take in the system.
I got one for 7/12-7/14 and one for 7/27. Seems like the system had some issues, especially for the 7/27 one.
We should have room in our group campsite fo
