...WINTRY CONDITIONS TO RETURN TO CENTRAL CALIFORNIA THIS WEEKEND..

A LATE SEASON WINTER STORM WILL BRING RAIN...SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS TO THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA INTERIOR BEGINNING THURSDAY AND CONTINUING THROUGH THE WEEKEND. RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVER MERCED...MADERA AND MARIPOSA COUNTIES BEGINNING THURSDAY...THEN SPREAD SOUTHWARD TO KERN COUNTY BY SATURDAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL FALL TO AROUND 3500 FEET SATURDAY IN THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA AS AN UNSEASONABLY COLD AIRMASS MOVES INTO THE REGION. BY SATURDAY NIGHT...SNOW LEVELS IN THE TEHACHAPI MOUNTAINS ALSO COULD FALL TO 3500 FEET...FOR A CHANCE OF SNOW ON THE HIGHER PARTS OF THE GRAPEVINE AND TEHACHAPI PASS SUNDAY.

GUSTY WINDS WILL DEVELOP OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS AHEAD OF THE STORM AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND. WIND SPEEDS OF 50 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE BEGINNING THURSDAY OVER THE KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND THE HIGH COUNTRY OF THE SIERRA NEVADA...WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 60 MPH POSSIBLE IN THE KERN COUNTY DESERTS. WINDS WILL DIMINISH A BIT FRIDAY...THEN INCREASE AGAIN SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AS THE MAIN STORM MOVES INTO CENTRAL CALIFORNIA.
