Most of my mother's family still lives in NH and my mom grew up in the shadow of Mt. Washington. I have been to the peak several times; each by car or Cog Railway. I will hike it one day...

It was surreal making that drive from Manchester or Boston for the first time after the Old Man on the Mountain collapse. This story is the same for so many tied to NH---but it never failed that as a kid we would eagerly wait for the viewing and attempt to be the first one to spot the Old Man. The collapse was very sad for our entire family--I suppose mostly just memories.
