Yesterday. You need to guess the peak (It should be easy) (there is a huge hint in the picture).

Yer not gonna give any hints (the problem is that these "ridgelines" like Cock's comb etc., start all looking alike when viewed from different angles. From Clouds rest, I could point out Red Peak and Mt. Clark, no problem. But then echo peaks start looking like cocks comb/ unicorn cluster...Sigh..I dont want you to give it away outright, but I need to know that I am at least looking in the right area

Okay -- dont give the answer...I have my mappy out so tht I can pin the direction that you are looking from.. I DID get that Clark was in the pic, but it looks like you are HIGHER than clark which should eliminate quite a few selections..

Clark isn't in the picture. You can't see Clark from there. (Gray is in the way)

Mizz Bee... the first picture has a very prominent peak and feature.
It has historical significance I believe. (and hint hint... its that white stuff)

Ok. I need to uncorrect this.
The Merced Glacier/Snowfield does have historical significance.
It is the glacier that Muir "discovered" in 1871.
There's a good write-up on it in Shaffer's Yosemite National Park book.

AHHHH.. the source of one of my false starts: the view IS from Red Peak, but that was only for that pic? I KNOW what area you were in; I have it narrowed, but my problem is that in order for Clark dangle at that angle, you have to be 10K+. I am using the Yosemite Park mappy that they hand out at the gate, in the morn, I can fish out my N'tl Geographic mappy. I might bee missing a possible peak. It looks like you were in the lower South bowels of the Park.

As you go up to Red Peak you get great views of Lower Ottoway which
you cannot see from the Pass.

Billy, I am a little confused: WAS the mystery peak Red Peak? or was that just for the photos on the link? If it was Red Peak all along, that was my FIRST guess early on when I asked if "the color of the rock was significant" (posted before all the wrong guessing)(the red color=Red Peak)

Post the other pics AND your route (by the day, so I can see what you covered in a day)

Nice shot of Mt Clark (from thread) was that a morning shot? What's the story with Clark -- is it a hike up or a technical peak?

Clark has a number of class 4 routes. No class 3. All from east.
Gray has class 2/3 route.
Red has class 2 route.
Merced has class 2 route.

The closeup of Clark was taken at right aroud 8pm.
