Returned to Yosemite Valley last Friday evening making the 200 mile drive from my workplace to Yosemite Valley. Link to thread on my previous visit after the previous snowstorm:

Got to see some of the Rim Fire for first time since coming and going. Lots of quite special old growth forest in Yosemite's boundary areas up in smoke. Qute sad to see all the burned areas on Big Oak Flat Road inside the park. And the USFS, Tuolumne County, and the Fresno US Attorney's Office that has the case has still not said anyhting publicly including name the "hunter". Suspect a conspiracy to keep it quiet because the hunter is one of their own government employees so they may be hoping the public will over time forget about it. Time to remind the newspapers again to check what is going on.

Previous Saturday had visited after a Friday evening snowstorm. However last week gave us this year's first hot spell here in California and whatever snow there had been down to the 4000 foot level of Yosemite Valley was probably melted back by mid week. Thus in this droughty year everything visible near or above my inner canyon route had more the snowless look of late May. I hiked up the start of the John Muir Trail about 4 miles continuing to come up to speed with complexities of my new A6000 camera system. Following feature story on the below link contains 12 images and the story from that day's adventures.

Did some searching on web to see if anything new information is showing concerning the Rim Fire prosecution and it looks like there is also a journalist annoyed by authorities continued lack of information. Back in December some information leaked out after I had contacted the Sacramento Bee and posted on some web sites as suddenly caused news from some other papers to get involved. They reported the Fresno US Attorney had jourisdiction in the case but now they are saying the Sacramento Office. Even if they are still working on the case, their lack of even minimal information back to the public deserves criticism and some letters to local politicians to start poking at what stinks of more than just smoke.
