Hope you turkeys had a good Thanksgivin wit ur family n friends.

Spent some quality time wit the wife and my mistress.

Only two interesting points on this trip ... one gotta love the wife...
There were two other people at Vernon on Thanksgiving... and
on Friday she is contemplating going anywhere else (the 3 routes I
threw out at her she wasn't so excited about .. sad smiley )
on account she wants the entire place to herself... I told her
she is soooo spoiled... (can't blame her... I was thinking the
same thing)
Anywho. only other interesting thing was the other couple there
... the guy just about run us down to I guess ask us about the
pending storm which they were worried about. (um... yeah,
he probably asking the wrong guy... I was at 0% on Saturday...
the day they were leaving) Wife says ... wth don't they
just hike out tmr if they are so worried about the storm?

Anyway... See not that exciting... here's some pix of what
went down... enjoy if you like.

Forgot... we saw Bald Eagles both at Hetch Hetchy itself and at Lake Vernon.
The eagle at Vernon was pestering the Coots on the lake on Friday.
Wife said it was swooping down coming within a few inches of them...
soaring back up... and doing it all over again...
Missed that due to heading to Mt. Gibson / Branigan dayhike...

btw.. there was some talk about radios and whatnot earlier this year...
once again the stuff that basilbop z old stick n fedders recommended
worked a treat.... was able to check in with the misses on entire 12
mile trek up to Gibson and beyond the entire day while she went
down Falls Creek... Baofeng UV-3R radios. work great.

Have fun.. n be safe n warm out der

thumbs up

Saw a bald eagle at Kibbie on Friday. And heard a great horned owl that night. I finally got to try out my new 5F quilt... nice and toasty warm. Some serious clouds moving through Friday night and the white stuff started Saturday morning around 8AM. We were gonna spend the day at the lake...but after about six inches by noon...decided it was time to get down the Shingle Springs road before my friends Corolla got stuck. We were out there less than 24 hours but it was a great time nonetheless. I wasn't gonna go on behalf of the weather this weekend...but I got an e-mail from a friend at 9:30PM on Turkey Day asking if I wanted to join... twist my arm why don't ya...

Season's over man.

Seriously... That's some Cool Grape Goodnes..
I half expected to see ur car at Hetch Hetchy ... or run into you at some pt. out there.
Gave wife the option of Kibbie too... but since we spent last April there...
and I "needed" to hit Mt. Gibson and WL 7496 ... Vernon it twas... smiling smiley
(wife don't care where we go... just somewhere nice where no one else is ... ) smiling smiley
btw... brought the -10 bag.. and yeah... uh... it barely got into the 20s at Vernon.

Have fun out der (or I should say... keep having fun out there)

Forgot to mention... really happy to see what appeared to be most of the oaks on the switchers
out of Hetchy coming back. I thought they were gone.

Also... on Google Earth you can see the burn from the Rim Fire...
(edited the post above... we didn't spend last Thanxgiving there... I was at home
watching footballs... )

I figured we might run into you. There were fresh tire tracks and fresh footprints going out of Shingle Springs, but no spot with less snow where a car had parked very long. It looked like some people hiked in Saturday morning, got snowed on and decided to turn around.

Cool that some of those oak trees survived.

What's next?

That's it. Seasons over. Time to eat Bon Bons and watch football all day and put on 50 pounds and a white beard.

Ho ho ho
