I have never been to Yosemite in winter before. I had some time off, so why not. Got there last Tuesday. Ranger at 140 entrance said chains were not needed if you had M
+ S rated tires, just needed to carry them. Around Cascade Falls the roads were icy, and everyone was putting chains on. Most of the valley was icy on Tuesday, and I kept chains on.
East of Cascade Falls:

Tunnel View:

Bridalveil:

Went near Vernal Fall on Wednesday. Ice Trekkers worked great on the icy trail. Lots of people who weren't wearing any traction devices were sliding all over the trail:

Checked out some of Snow Creek on Thursday:

I remember seeing your shots and video from Snow Creek in winter before. That's probably why I wanted to see those views in winter.
I seem to remember you can hear Old Dude on the Brdalveil video.

OMG. That was a GREAT laugh! Basilbop had his arms almost at 180 degrees apart, and said it was 90 degrees. I almost fell over laughing! It's amazing we get anywhere without getting lost.. the whole directional thing trying to figure out where the sun rises... hilarious. They NEED to eat a bar BEFORE trying to pick the perfect campsite and tent orientation!

Thanks for posting. I spent most of the week watching my son ski at Badger. By the time we talked him out of going more so we could do something else, the snow had melted off the trees. I love Yosemite in the winter. Except for the bad winter drivers.
