Hello All -

Looking for advice for backpacking with kids - trail ideas, not the wisdom of the decision! In any case we've been going from TM towards Donahue / Lyell Canyon over the past few years. Both my 9 year-old and 7 year-old have been making the trip since they turned 5 (not OVER Donahue mind you, just the requisite 5 or so miles in to where camping is permitted). I am thinking about bringing my third child (turns five in September) this year as well. However, does anyone have any alternative ideas for hikes that are relatively easy? I have been on many backcountry trips to Yosemite over the years and cannot recall any easier trips than the Lyell Canyon trip. Background is that we tend to set up camp day 1 and then do day trips (usually) fishing up/down a river, and we have the prerequisite permits for Lyell.

Thanks in advance for any ideas / suggestions.

Seriously... I really think all of these are doable for a yungun.
