I thought I've heard when I've taken the Valley Tour that they planted Giant Sequoias at each of the lodging establishments so those who didn't have a chance to go to one of the groves go see them up close. I thought there was one near the front desk building and the Cedar Cottage. There could be ones located near where the sister cottages of the Cedar Cottage that were torn down after the 1997 flood once stood.

Also in the Yosemite Valley, there are four sequoias by Galen Clark's grave at the Yosemite Cemetery.

We were told there were 2 near the Chapel. We only found one. The guy who told us
wasn't at the desk so we couldn't find out any more info.

We came up with about 23 or so in total in the valley.

Hm. Is there another one maybe? Cuz this one is closest to Tamarack building. The old cabins at the lodge were on the far side of the buildings that survived, iirc.?!? We used to stay in those cabins! Sigh. My memory is horrible for that kind of thing.

The cabins WITH bath were the ones between Alder cottage and the Aspen/Dogwood/Tamarack cluster of cottages. The cabins WITHOUT bath were on the westside of the complex.

I would say if you have to refer to the cabins, then yes--with bath- are closer, but frankly that seems to confuse matters for the tree we are referring to.

Across the creek east from Tamarack is the one we meant. If there is another further down the creek, we will have to go find it!

When was there prior weekend... we headed towards Lower Falls... and um...
hey look, a road... and towards Yose Creek we went... past a Lift Station...
and on... and a Sequoia didn't jump out at us... but.. alas... wasn't looking much
other than the inappropriate footwear someone had on (rooks) ...
and the gorgeous views ..



(I took a picture of the lift station too if you're interested)
