Re: Early July Rafferty Creek to Vogelsang?

Just wondering peoples experience on this backpacking trail in early July. I know it all depends on the year, just wondering if most people wait until later July into August or if most years it is doable in early July without trekking through too deep of snow. Thanks

Most years? Too deep snow? It's possible. And don't forget that except for last year, the previous years have been quite dry. As you note, it all depends on the weather between now and then!

Way back in the day, when the high Sierra camps would open, (is anybody here old enough to remember that?😜) they usually opened around July 4 with Vogelsang opening maybe a week after that. So early July *might* be ok, depending on the snowpack.

I would say early July on the Rafferty Creek to Vogelsang trail can be a bit of a mixed bag.
