Did you happen to go past the road to Turtle Back Dome? Is there enough snow there for a snowshoe trip?

no more than a foot of snow in most places

Maybe just a walk then. I've never been on Turtle Back in the winter. Should be a great hike this spring though with one side of the road having burnt and the other side not. It would be interesting to compare the two sides.

Here's the view from the Turtle Back camera. Not too much snow at 5000 feet but have your snowshoes with you as you might need the cleats.

Another nice hike is up the road to the fire lookout just about 3/4 west of the 120/Big Oak Flat Road junction on 120. It starts at 6200 feet and goes up to about 6800 feet. Should be enough snow on that road to warrant shoes. I'm pretty sure there is even a winter trail that runs from the Crane Flat parking area to the fire lookout.

Wasn't that camera broke for awhile? Tioga is still out. I love the Turtle Back view and trail. It's the one trail/road that hardly anyone uses. A great place for solitude.

Thanks. I forgot about that one. If I'm in the area I go up there for lunch.
