Warning above 5000 feet for heavy snow and strong winds...Which
Is in effect from 4 pm friday to 4 am pst monday for the southern
Sierra nevada from yosemite to kings canyon. The winter storm
Watch is no longer in effect for the southern sierra nevada from
Yosemite to kings canyon.
* snow accumulations: 2 to 4 feet. The heaviest snowfall will
Occur above 7000 feet around yosemite park.
* snow level: will fluctuate between 4000 to 5000 feet over the
Weekend.
* timing: occasional heavy snow will develop friday night and
Continue through saturday night. There will be a short break in
The precipitation sunday morning. Another heavy burst of snow
Will develop sunday afternoon and continue through sunday night.
* locations include: yosemite park...Tuolumne meadows...Shaver
Lake...Huntington lake...Wishon...Kings canyon park...And
Highway 41 north of oakhurst.
* winds: southwest winds with occasional gusts to 75 mph in the
Sierra backcountry and near the crest. Strong winds will cause
Significant blowing and drifting snow.
* impacts: snow covered roads...Treacherous driving conditions.
