JMT is closed above Clark Pt. due to the "Ice Cut" issue:


As you can probably see... it's extremely dangerous. This is one I don't fart around with.
Only way I'd do it would probably be with real Crampons. And even then... this photo was taken
after, what, over a month of barely any precipitation.
Always meant to check it out like this... finally did last Monday.

I'd like to see that far side a little closer---I think it might be doable with crampons and ice axe---IF the ice is stable.

Considering that this part of the JMT is NOT DESIGNATED as wilderness, maybe the Park Service could hull up a Bobcat skid loader and plow out the snow and ice from the trail. Grinning Devil
