It can get REALLY bad.

JMT is closed above Clark Pt. due to the "Ice Cut" issue:
As you can probably see... it's extremely dangerous. This is one I don't fart around with.
Only way I'd do it would probably be with real Crampons. And even then... this photo was taken
after, what, over a month of barely any precipitation.
Always meant to check it out like this... finally did last Monday.

Considering that this part of the JMT is NOT DESIGNATED as wilderness, maybe the Park Service could hull up a Bobcat skid loader and plow out the snow and ice from the trail.
