OK, as a relative long-timer on this board, it just occured to me that I don't really know how OD & chick-on started hiking together. Did one of you get the other one interested? Did your paths just happen to cross? Did you meet over something other than hiking and then just discover the mutual interest? If that's a topic one or the both of you would rather not reveal on-list, that's fine. It's just that I've been on here enough years to remember when the two of you were the same kind of weekly regulars as chick-on/basil/jkw are nowadays and I was just kind of curious about how you two titans of this board (not to mention of Yose hiking!) started sharing your adventures?

We worked together in San Jose and it was known that I backpacked and he expressed an interest or something like that. The rest is history.

My vershun goes something like that...

Worked with him at IBM in the 90s. hehehe... (or yikes)
He was an expurt backpacker. I had never been backpacking.
He showed me what to do. I showed him what not to do.
Pretty much since that day it has been an undying passion of mine.
He forever changed my life. (I'm not kidding)
I pretty much have been a booger that he hasn't been able to
get off his finger.
I'm forever grateful.

basilbop and jkw and bearproof and a few others.. have met
basically from this forum or simply running into them out there
and then this led to that... and now they more or less can't shake me.

hey, check this out... hey, check this out... )
wanna do this... o wow... cool... let's go there...

Something like that.

It's been a lot of fun. I wouldn't change much.

And, of course, I hope I've said enough... thanks to eeek for this forum.
It's been a great source and I've found many great people who
have become great friends.

Sometimes it doesn't always work out. Mostly it does.
