And yet one more picture....Don't forget, only 2 motor vehicles per site (a trailer is not a motor vehicle) and 6 persons (you can probably get away with a couple more but don't do things to draw attention to your group). http://www.campsitephotos.com/campground/North-Pines/photos/North-Pines-310by mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Actually after looking more closely at the pictures that angle does not look like a 90 degree angle. It's more like a 40 degree angle making backing in from the left side very difficult. Backing from the right would fit the angle better but you can't cut the angle because of the campground marker post being right at the right junction of the site pad and the road. You might want to put this on the "Yosemite and Sierra News and Discussion" group, sister group to this one. A chart I have shows this site to be 28' by 11ft. wide., with an additional 5ft. open hangover at the end. It looks like a 90 degree turn into the site which is probably why they recommend only a 12' trlr. However from looking at a couple of different pictures it looks likeby mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
The high measurement back in 1997 was 13 ft. over flood stage. They are predicting 5 ft. over flood stage tonight/tomorrow. Still worrisome. Looks like they are not worried about flooding Yosemite Lodge and Awahnee but don't want people on the roads.by mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I didn't fare so well. Nabbed my wife's favorite Lower Pines site for one night only and then settled on a not so good site for 3 more nights. Of course dawg no obey... no understand mileage... elevation change... or that to get a Payday you gotta keep hiking... you get it at the top o hill... not the bottom. At least in the valley campgrounds you can't have fires until 5 p.m. Makes a nice difference in the morning air. Of course there's usually at least one per campground who starts a smoky fire in the a.m. I'm usually up and walking by 6:30 and I can smell a campfire in the morning a mile away. I'll usually walk that direction and when I come across it I'll politely say " Hey, just a friendlby mtn man - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I was in the Valley 5/8 to 5/12 and I have never seen the Merced so cloudy/muddy looking. I've been in the Valley about that time of year for decades now and this was definitely the cloudiest/muddiest looking I'd ever seen. Even years when the water was higher than it was weeks ago it was still clearer those years than it was 5/8-5/12.by mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

QuoteDave Quotehotrod4x5 QuoteDave Yes, but will the Park Service learn the lesson here and start trademark proceedings on all national park place names? Somehow I don't believe they have learned. They need to just make a law that a private entity cannot trademark something that is owned by the American people.Republicans would never go for it. Ummm....actually they in general would.by mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Smokey Mountains Natl Park has public roads going through it (much like 120 goes through Yosemite) but unlike Yosemite they don't charge entrance fees. So a lot of people "drive through" just because that's the best way to get from point A to point B. That's what I was thinking.by mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
How about this: If the National Park is going to lose this one then on the buildings concerned the new signs could say in very small letters, for example, "Big Trees Hotel, formerly the (and then in huge letters) WAWONA HOTEL. The lettering would be such that unless you walked up to the sign the only thing you can see would be the super large letters: "WAWONA HOTEL". DNC gets itby mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
