I'm taking Yarts into the valley from Fresno so I will be on foot. Maybe I can hitchhike to Porcupine flats and stay there on the 4th and then try to find another ride to Tuolumne Meadows early on the 5th to start trip?by kembo05 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I am going to be backpacking through Yosemite for the first time in early October. I am starting in Tuolumne Meadows and taking the John Muir trail to LYV. My reservation for the backpacking trip starts Sept 29th, but I was hoping to camp at the Tuolumne Campground on the 28th. I just noticed the historical campground closing is around that date. Any advice on what to do if the campground is closby kembo05 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I have a 5 day trip planned in late September. I was originally going to start at Tenaya lake and make my way to little Happy isles. I am thinking about changing my starting point to the Cathedral lake trailhead. Any thoughts? pro/cons? This is my first trip to Yosemite so id like to take as much in as possible. Thanks in advanceby kembo05 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I feel much more comfortable with this now. I am guessing I will hoof it and hope someone gives me a ride most of the way. Thanks guysby kembo05 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Yeah, the dates are set. I have read some stuff about hitchhiking around Yosemite, but I didn't know how common this was. I was just worried about not finding a way to tenaya lake.by kembo05 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I'm making my first trip to Yosemite in late September/Early October. I'm spending a couple of days backpacking from Sunrise Lakes to Little Yosemite Valley. I plan on taking YARTS into Yosemite Village from Fresno, but I'm not sure how to get to Tenaya Lake from there. It looks like the buses and shuttles won't be traveling through Tioga Road by this time. Any suggestions?by kembo05 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
