Speaking of Mountain Goats...or...uh...actually Bighorn Sheep...I hope to see one in a picture of yours sometime in the near future. And if the Bighorn Sheep is in a boat, well, bonus points from me, but probably not from the Yosemite Rangers.by Bearproof - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I have no back problems, (knock on wood) but I am a baby about sleeping comfort, as well as being a stomach and side sleeper. I have both a Big Agnes Q-cor SL 3.5 inch mattress as well as a 4" insulated Qcor for winter. Love em both!by Bearproof - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Have fun over there! See you when you get back! Yeah I agree about the misunderstanding. My trail mates actually asked if the bird was pranking me about the trail conditions. I said no, that guy does a lot of pranks, and he may owe me one, but he never crosses the line on safety and providing good info. We had heard from the Aussie (see this trip report) that he was going to be back in town and needed a Yosemite fix, so we planned to go up for a two day backpacking trip this past weekend. Since trail conditions and weather this time of year can be uncertain, about 10 days before the trip I asked what I consider the best "local knowledge" source about conditions on the trail along tby Bearproof - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I was going to say Ledge Trail, and maybe its just at the spot where you turn into the gully, in other words where Staircase Falls comes out of the gully and starts the staircasing down towards Curry. But I think wherever is right...this is shot from just a bit higher. So when you come out of the gully, if you head straight towards Glacier Point (rather than going up to the 4 Mile Trail to theby Bearproof - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Yeah that was a long day...we got our permit that morning at Bridgeport and AndrewF tells the permit guy.."maybe we get to Benson later today". Permit guy just laughed at us. Says "I have done that once with a 15 pound pack" AndrewF says "I am carrying 14 pounds" Problem was I was carrying about 35.by Bearproof - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Well now that the Bird has confused you...fear not. He confuses me all the time. Yellow becomes orange, whatever. It all looks doable from here. I understand the concern that you could spend a lot of time in line and maybe, maybe, not get a permit. Always good to have options. The Bird alludes to the Quartz Mountain trailhead...pick u a permit in Oakhurst. Bird and I did a trip here labor day.by Bearproof - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
