It would be interesting to see the thinking and calculations behind the expected increase in revenue from charging foreigners more. Might also tell us if the actual goal is not to increase revenue but just to reduce visitations by non-Americans. I checked now for a single night in the second week of September, but those haven't been released yet. It also appears that some of the sites are being held for release 14 days in advance, so some more spots may yet open up for August.by Not quite The Geezer, but getting there - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. They announced at some point (2017 or 2018, I think) that apart from the time involved in preparing trip reports, they got tired of running into people who were less considerate and cared less about the park than they do, so they stopped posting TRs so that they wouldn't encourage those kinds of people to check out the trio's favorite hidden-away spots (my wording, if you find the post Basilbop'sby Not quite The Geezer, but getting there - General Discussion

Thanks for the heads-up even though I can't take advantage (just cancelled my own reservations for next week). It's such a bummer to have to cancel any YNP reservation but hopefully someone will pick it up and use it...by Not quite The Geezer, but getting there - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Update: Got no takers so I just cancelled the reservation. And about two two seconds after receiving my partial refund confirmation, got an email alerting me to an open spot at Hodgdon.by Not quite The Geezer, but getting there - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I have reservations for Hodgdon Meadow campground, nights of May 18 and 19. For reasons beyond my control, will not be able to use them. If anyone one here is interested, please PM me. (Yes, I know they're not transferable, but we can work out the timing of my cancellation so that someone gets them from recreation.gov as soon as I cancel.)by Not quite The Geezer, but getting there - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

It was a browser issue. Didn't work in firefox, worked in chrome. I wasn't even getting to the "number of people" screen with the list of THs in firefox.by Not quite The Geezer, but getting there - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I want to see a list of what's available before I try to make a reservation. Such a list used to be online when reservations were managed by Yosemite Conservancy. And according to recreation.gov's website, it should be availble...but it's not. Last-minute decision (for me): planning to be in YNP next month, am logged into recreation.gov, looking for available wildnerness permits, but when I click on "explore available permits", I get the "something went wrong, unexpected error, try again later message". I heard the union was recommending they hire them all back. How many of these folks actually live in the area and can still say yes? How many don't live nearby and have now found work elsewhere? Quotebalzaccom Aramark has already been removed as the concessionaire for Crater Lake National Park, and some of us have had some pretty poor experiences with the organization over the years. Seems like every year there is a reason that significant facilities can't open in the park--and each year they increase.
