Go to the front desk and ask if you can purchase an access code for a day of WiFi access for a small fee. One was able to do so at the Yosemite Lodge. Maybe Half Dome Village has instituted the same policy.by plawrence - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

The problem is if there are food scents on the storage compartments. I actually own this utility table. But when I'm camping in Yosemite, I take out the four storage compartments (as shown in this photo) and place them in the bear-resistant locker at night (or before I leave my camp site during the day) because I don't want to worry about a bear ripping them open in search of food (even thougby plawrence - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. For very wet conditions, I like the Teva Terra Fi 4 sandals. I wouldn't use them in snow, but for crossing streams and swampy meadows they get the job done. They provide excellent traction in water and on and off trail.by plawrence - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Quoteparklover It now says late May. They are months behind schedule and I hope they are opened by Memorial Day Weekend since there are so many people there that weekend. I hope they still have the sandwich that I always get. What are the odds that if they still sell your favorite sandwich at Degnan's that it'll cost at least $3 more compared to last year?by plawrence - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quoteitchbay Q1: Any idea on the opening Bridalveil Creek Campground for 2017? Obviously it's hard to predict, but based on your experience, do you think it's a good option for July camping this year? Q2: If July is unlikely, what about Aug or early Sept? Quoteitchbay So much snow! I mean, I'm happy about the snow and all. Who doesn't like more drinking water all summer? But I'm still kinda bummer we're probably going to have to spend our July 4th anniversary somewhere other than Tuolumne Meadows. There's a good chance you will be able to spend the day there, but I doubt that the campground or lodge will be open by then (though, crossingby plawrence - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Quotechick-on I'd highly recommend calling Sierra National Forest in Oakhurst and asking conditions of the road to the Grove if you end up deciding to go there. I found this on the forum here: http://yosemitenews.info/forum/read.php?3,26147,26236#msg-26236 I don't know if they plow Sky Ranch or not... only that they grade it as some point... and the road to the grove is off Sky Ranch...by plawrence - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Wow! Great news! According to the article it's only going to be one lane through the damaged area for now (so expect delays), but still that's a whole lot better than being closed all summer (which I really thought it was going to be). So it's great that it's being opened up to the public next week.by plawrence - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quotearthas86 Just out of curiosity, where did you get this info from since it is not mentioned anywhere in the park's official website? QuoteJohnC Quoteplawrence This is great news. It's means that Glacier Point Road will probably be opened to the public within three weeks, maybe even sooner. Is that usually the case when they open it for Admin access? I have tentative plans to camp at Wawona starting May 15 but I really don't want to go if Glacier Pt Road is still closed. QuoteparkloverWith the impact on visitors and the local economy, I am sure the park is working as fast as possible to get it reopened. I am sure that they are.
