If this was on the 19th, that was a recovery from a tragic climbing accident on El Cap.by nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
If you don't mind rude neighbors and noctural visits by very aggressive raccoons, then houskeeping is your place. If you want some actually "personal" space, which even kills me to say this then curry village. My first choice if I couldn't afford the lodge would be to tent camp it. Look for my post about raccoonville..it explains what I mean.by nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Speaking with other campers, they all had a problem with the raccoons every night. We were all brainstorming how to keep the raccoons out of the tent. One person said they mentioned it in the store and the repsonse was well, all the animals seen to be hungrier this year. Another person said they commented to the front desk at hk that it must be busier there with the problems at curry villageby nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Had a very interesting and unpleasant stay over in housekeeping due to very brazen raccoons. Friday night we had the first raccoon come in at 9:30. It did not want to leave, even to the point of looking back at us under the tent flap. The second time was 2:30 in the morning and this time 2 of them came inside the tent. One was near my mom's head for the second time and the other was at the foot oby nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Yes, my husbnad hates the no pumping your own gas, but personally I love it..esp when we travel late and it's cold. I can even tell you which gas startions I avoid and which towns I won't even eat fast food at..it drives hubby crazy!by nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Sadly, when I go To Oregon it involves slave labor! The property must take it's pound of flesh. We are the only people I am sure that drive 8 hours to maintain 3 acres in 2 days and drive back home.. What have I seen...The U of O stadium is pretty cool to see, Especially if it is open and you can convince someone to let you go look at it (yes, that is the extent of my sight seeing! ...um...butby nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I suggest pulling up Oregons web site. They are the most organized site I have ever been to. Want to see the waterfalls..road map for that. Old bridges,..road map for that. Wineries..the same. They want people to come..and the campgounds awesome. You will actually see many places on 5 that people just pull off aand over and camp right along the river banks. As much as I want to keep my intended trip the home/work issues is going to make this trip (and any other trip) unfeasible. If any one is interested in these dates get ahold of me and I will cancel during a time in which you can book. It is site 125 in North Pines.by nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I am FINALLY getting to visit the valley again this Oct, once with my husband early in the month, and once with my mom mid month. I am looking for some off the beaten path trails. I want to do the ribbon falls amplitheater (hopeful there is water ) and one other trail. I'd like to do these trails first with the husband and then take my mom on them. Any suggestions for another hike about the sameby nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

From the valley? Looking for something different to do this fall. Opinions?by nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
There was availability for the 18th to the 21st. I think that has to be close to the cut off for the season. I lik the idea of having everything right there and being able to cook etc as opposed to Curry. I myself have had variable weather in Oct. It seems to be the only time of year that I manage to get to the valley so I've had warm days cold nights, and rainy days and nights.by nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks for the info. We ended up booking this "cabin" for that weekend. Good idea on the sleeping bags and so is covering the doors and windows. Does the cabin have a bear box right outside?by nightsklabs - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Has anyone stayed in one of these? Is it warmer for mid October trip? It's described as being east of the apple orchard. Is this a long walk from the parking lot/dining? The lodge is booked up for the weekend my mom and I are going. Is there a special event going on the weekend of the 19th?
