Quotemrcondron Bill-e-g and I went up to Sunrise Lakes Friday and returned Saturday evening so I had recorded the game to watch it upon our return. Not wanting to know the results we kept our eyes down and our ears shut during the trip back to Manteca. We had just finished putting gas in Bill-e-g's car in Oakdale when some guy in another area of the gas station shouts "THE 49ERS WON!by oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quotembear Quotechick-on Does it really matter? It's all over on 12/12/12 But you're going to need that full-blown winter homefield advantage when the Saints roll into town in the NFC title game. Great pics! Thank you for sharing. I remember thinking how cool it was seeing ice floating on Kibbie back in June. That was great to see. Looks like a blast. I missed a bit being sick over Christmas.by oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Sure it does. Getting to the high country with no snow in early May is awesome. Having no water in late June sucks...by oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

If you guys were talking places to eat in groveland, my favorite is to grab a sandwich at Mar-Val (the grocery store behind the liquor store across the street from the infamous Groveland Motel). Those sandwiches are excellent. There was a new taco truck across the street from Hwy 120 towing in front of the hardware store. The prices weren't great compared to bay area taco trucks, but it was gby oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I know GB has the #1 seed. I meant that they would have to beat the Niners to get to the super bowl...hence going thru SF. Although, with as good as new Orleans has been playing, it could be a moot point for both teams.by oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quotechick-on O... and I also want another one of those Super Duper Bowl Trophies! You're gonna have to go thru SF first!by oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I can tell you, it's definitely been done. Not by me, of course. I have a buddy who dayhiked it. Except their group went up from Preston and worked up to Poopenaut. The caveat being they didn't have a boat, so they had to swim part of it. According to him, it went from a fun dayhike to a nightmare halfway through. I could see it being a lot of fun taking a kayak down from Ppopenaut.by oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

QITNL, First of all I am very impressed and surprised that you figured out who my avatar is! Well done! Its a travesty beyond words that he didn't get the Ford C Frick award this year, and its a slap in the face to all of broadcasting that Tim "I have nothing interesting to offer" McCarver was awarded it. If we're talking other apps that I use for backpacking then I do have quite a few weather apps: Accuweather The Weather Channel Max are my top two. I use Sunrise & Set as well as Phases to plan for what time the sun rises and sets as well as what the moonlight illumination will be. It comes in handy if you are planning to hike at night.by oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks for info on that app, I'll have to pick it up and check it out. While $8 seems steep for an app, thats the price of one USGS map, so its really quite reasonable.by oakroscoe - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quoteeeek QuoteoakroscoeFor instance, don't even try to drive through a crosswalk in Pasadena when a pedestrian is still in it, the cops will be all over you for a hefty ticket. Which you then get dismissed in court. Haha in that county with those judges, you're dreaming if you think you're getting that dismissed. They are making a huge emphasis about it: http://sanmarino.patch.com/articlby oakroscoe - General Discussion
I echo the other sentiments, I still have my Garmin 76CSx and I'm quite happy with it. Looking at the current models, I don't see the need to upgrade yet.by oakroscoe - General Discussion
Quoteparklover I downloaded the CA DMV driver booklet and no where did I see it state that, although pedestrians have the right of way in cross walks, you had to wait until a pedestrian fully crossed the intersection before proceeding to drive through that intersection. But that does not mean that you can drive between separate groups of people crossing the intersection, like I have seen peopleby oakroscoe - General Discussion
Quoteeeek Lane splitting has been legal for as long as I can remember. It's just stupid. Eeek, I bet to disagree. I would much rather take my chances splitting lanes going slightly faster than traffic as opposed to sitting in stop and go traffic and crossing my fingers that the driver talking on his cellphone while changing his GPS route in the car behind me sees me in time to stop.by oakroscoe - General Discussion

Quotebill-e-g It's EAST of Kibbie Lake up on the ridge (take a lookie at a USGS map). All 3 are up there. In great shape. Quotechick-on I'm actually quite surprised so many are in decent shape. An example: I actually have al the ones I have in a set if there is any desire. Kinda figured this would go over as well as the Roadside Makers.. Where was that one at?
