When I climbed Cloud's Rest in August, I only had the park's trail map which is good for general purposes but that's about it - The Cloud's Rest trail goes to the left from the Sunrise TrailHead - but there is another trail that goes to Snow Creek - I am probably wrong but my memory tells me that there wasn't a sign that specifically stated Clouds rest and the distance at the trail head - Anywayby SoCalCPA - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I just let 145 in Upper Pines go at about 4:35 today - Go to Recreation.Gov to see if still available I was able to see that this site was released immediately when I had cancelled the reservation - If this is the way Recreation.Gov is working it, then scalpers can easily overide the system by simply making the reservation, then cancelling and immediately signing up with their customer - I thoby SoCalCPA - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Snow level is pretty low! - But there are pretty variations in rock color all the way down to Red Devil. At Washburn, we released all we caught so no we did not cook up that brown. We did cook up the Rainbows at Lower Ottoway but it was a little difficult - Since we couldn't have a fire there, we boiled water on our stove with a lid on the pot and hoped the heat generated would cook the fish iby SoCalCPA - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Just got back from the exact same trip but took our time over 5 1/2 days June 28th through July 3rd - We must have passed eachother on July 1st at the Merced Lake HSC - We got there late afternoon on July 1st - you must have come in later and left before us the following morning - That is a super long haul from Ottoway to Merced, we never could have done it - You are a stud for sure - Took us 2by SoCalCPA - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Thanks for the comments - We plan on taking it easy the first 2 days to Ottoway and then leaving very early on day 3 to make it to Washburn - It's about 14 or 15 miles - I know this is aggressive and we may not make it but I want to try - I figure if we wake at the crack of dawn and leave early, we might get there by 6PM - We would have an extra day of acclimation with the altitude plus it's pretby SoCalCPA - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I guess I was confusing regarding my fishing question - Let me clarify: I know that Lower Ottoway Lake has fish I know that Upper Ottoway Lake doesn't I do "not" know if Lower Merced Pass Lake or if Upper Merced Pass Lake has fish - both of these lakes are three miles west and 1000 feet below the Ottoway lakes - I plan on making it to these lakes our first night and I was wondby SoCalCPA - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I need your guys help - I am trying to gauge the distance on the JMT Yosemite section - I have seen 2 signs that I think are on the Valley Floor at Happy Isles - One shows the distance at 17.0 miles - Another at 27.3 miles - All I can think of is that the mileage assumes different trails but a 10 mile variance just seems too high If I were to hike the JMT from the Valley Floor to Tuolumne - Hoby SoCalCPA - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
