I'm definitely going to make a goal to visit some fun places. as far as being in yosemite goes, I'm planning on hiking quite a bit of the tuolumne area, and also hiking the wilderness in the south eastern part of the park also.by marmot - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I'm not sure what the numbers are in current time but a few years ago I was told that the national park service had close to 10,000 seasonal employees and 172,000 volunteers. The numbers given to me may have varied and either be lower or higher now, but to have 1,000 seasonal employee jobs cut is quite a lot.by marmot - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
*shudders* here's a few of the lovely critters I've encountered. these here are all bull snakes though (the one sun tanning near the truck is a prairie rattler though) it's the element of surprise that gets me though. nothing like walking along side the river or along a trail to suddenly have a snake zip along in front of you or rattle its tail under your foot as you're about toby marmot - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Quoteplawrence It's amazing how nice and clear the old road is in your photos. Was most of the old road between Alder Creek and the Wawona CG in such great condition, or did you have to do some heavy duty bushwhacking (or even trail finding) on other parts of this segment of the old Wawona Road? . that is what I was wondering. If it doesn't require a whole lot of thick brush and bushwackiby marmot - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

there's snow around fish camp but not more than a foot or so when I went a few days ago. I didn't drive up the road to the top where the goat meadow is, but at the bottom of the goat meadow road where the turn off for it is on Hwy 41, there wasn't really enough to play in. But who knows, there might be some good snow at the top if you drive up the road at a little higher elevation. I would go cheby marmot - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
