I forgot to mention we would be leaving from Tenaya. The main reason for the overnighter, my friend is a photographer, and he wants the sunrise/sunset pictures that "most people don't get because they do it in a day hike." Those were his exact words. I know he is capable of doing the hikes in a day, but he wants those shots. We will be occupied the morning of the intended hike, and theby cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Im trying to get an overnight permit for Clouds Rest on July 27, next Friday. Is there any way there will be any permits left the day of my hike? I am aware they are up for grabs the day before your hike around 11am, but that might not be an option.by cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Yes that trail around the lake is pretty nice. Lower lake definitely better than upper. And on the west end you get a great view of Hoffman, Tuolumne peak, and Tenaya lakeby cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quotehotrod4x5 The panorama trail is not for newbie non hikers. There is another thread about it where we outlined how difficult it really is. I think this is itby cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quotehotrod4x5 A less expensive way to do it is to drive to GP leave your car, hike down and the next morning one adult rides the bus to retrieve the car. Very true. But with only two days in the Park, HE DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME!by cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Tis true. Take the bus from the Valley to Glacier Point ($25 per adult, $15 a kid) and hike the 8 miles down via panorama trail and show them 3 waterfalls, great vies of half dome north dome and the valley, if the kids are old enough to handle it. I am taking my girlfriend for her first time, ten days from now (I'm not counting down), so I really wanted her to just see Yosemite falls. Yosemite National Park's facebook page said the following: Tuolumne Meadows Campground is open on a first-come, first-served basis. Half the campground will be reservations-only beginning on June 13 (reservations for 6/13 onward are now available via recreation.gov).by cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. How tall is the snow? Any pictures? I'm going with some rookies in 3 weeks, do you think this will pose any threat for new hikers?by cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Think the Yosemite falls will be dried up by the last week of June? Ill be there June 25-30. I saw more water on April fools day, then there is today.by cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Its very short and easy. It does go up, but very short and easy. Maybe 800 gain. Here is the best picture I have of the Gardisky Lake area. You might want to summit Tioga peak if you stay the night. Maybe another 1000 gainby cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quotey_p_w That's too obvious. There's no rule against having guests in a campsite, and many groups that manage to secure two campsites might gather at a single site for meals and the authorities probably have no way of knowing. However, three cars parked at a site is too obvious. It's a strict limit of two vehicles, and it's easy to enforce. I will be going to Yosemite this weekend, staying until tue/wed. It will be my first winter trip. I would like to hike mist trail or upper yosemite falls trail. Are either of them going to be possible to reach the top? Which would be more enjoyable or "successful" if the top o the falls is unreachable.I know the mist trail is not as safe, and yosemite falls trail gets more sun so im leaby cantwait2getback - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
