Gary hit it right on.... i almost lost my son there a few years ago as we were floating down the river in inner tubes... the water was calm and slow, then out of no where, we hit fast turbulant water. i'm certain my son would have drowned had i not been able to grab him at the last second to safety (he was about 12 yrs old at the time). if it were me, i don't care how shallow or slow the water iby forrestranger - General Discussion
i was in it on May 9th, but only up to my knees... keep in mind i like cold water, but this water stung big time!!!! it was WAY too cold. my feet turned bright red immediately. the water in my opinion was too deep and fast for children that age!!! no way would i allow any kids in it.by forrestranger - General Discussion
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. -- A dozen sixth-graders and one adult were injured Thursday in a low-speed wreck involving two school buses in Yosemite National Park, a park representative said. The buses were carrying students on a day trip from Yolo Middle School in the Stanislaus County town of Newman. One bus rear-ended the other bus at about 10:55 a.m. in a construction zone on Bigby forrestranger - General Discussion

i don't want to get anyone's hopes up (not that it's a big deal), but i have a campsite reserved this coming friday (May9, 2008) that i may have to give up. my question is: am i able to give it away to anyone? i have the confirmation number etc, but not sure if it's something i can give away. i imagine i could, i don't see why not. anyhoo, i won't know until probably tomorrow if i'm unable toby forrestranger - General Discussion

wow! that was some blaze! really sad to see something like that happen.by forrestranger - General Discussion
not sure when things changed, but it was new to me. when i got my camping reservation on the internet, i knew to go to the reservation office to get things in order etc, but when i did, they said they do it different now. instead of having to report to the office to get your campsite, all you have to do is show up at the campsite and talk to the gate employee to get in. you don't even have to havby forrestranger - General Discussion
hmmm... yeah, park workers were telling a number of people this as we listened in at Bridalveil Falls... interesting to see if any news comes out in the next day or so...by forrestranger - General Discussion
i camped April 18, 2008 in Lower Pines campground in the valley. the forecast was suppose to be 17-18 degrees at night... well, i was there with 5 other people (who stayed up until 2pm sitting around the campfire) and none of us even needed a jacket... it was like a nice summer evening. the waterfalls were absolutely full and beautiful!!!!! the meadows are green, and the weather was perfect dby forrestranger - General Discussion

i haven't given it a whole lotta thought, but seeing that photo with the bear boxes outside the front door makes me nervous. outside the FRONT door???? lolol why not in the back or the side? if i had to exit, i certainly wouldn't want to if the bear was right outside my door.by forrestranger - General Discussion
a lot of times, i enter by hwy 120, and go home on hwy 140 (i live in Manteca, Ca.). it isn't that much longer going home on 140 and the views are sometimes worth it (depending on the year, spring time flowers are fantastic). hwy 120 is faster though.by forrestranger - General Discussion

i had it as one of my "favorites"but have since lost it.. someone here (long ago) posted a map that showed photographs and a drawn map of the valley campgrounds. if anyone recalls them, could you please post them again? thanks in advanceby forrestranger - General Discussion

i'm drawing a blank right now... what is the name of the place where as you are leaving the valley park that is pretty much the last place to pull over to take photos of the river and Bridalveil Falls? i have older photos of it where the view was totally clear, but now there are trees, branches that have over grown the area so much that you can barely take a photo anymore. why don't they cut thoby forrestranger - General Discussion
