Please Note: The Ahwahnee is currently in in the midst of an extensive Seismic Retrofit renovation project through the remainder of 2024.
Construction hours will be Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. There will be some noise present during these hours, and we encourage our guests to be out enjoying the park. Our main kitchen, surrounding concrete and balconies are the main projects that m

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion By "loop road" are you referring to the Happy Isles loop road? If so does this mean that one would be able to reach the trail head parking area (between Curry and Happy Isles) by going up the north side of the loop road starting at the stables and go all the way around to the south (westbound) side to get into the lot? Thus that road will be 2-way?

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Yup. I've been saying for decades now that the whole traffic backup from Yosemite Lodge to Stoneman bridge in the afternoons is the uncontrolled pedestrians crossing from the Yosemite lodge parking lot to the Lower Falls trail. Not a tough concept.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I just got back from the Valley. I was so glad to see that the experimental traffic patterns that they had last year were gone. It was so easy to get around the Valley and especially easy to get to and from the parking area at Sentinel Bridge for access to Clark's Meadow. I see that they are still not going to address the main reason for traffic back ups from Yosemite Lodge back to Stoneman Brid

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Somewhere I saw that Sentinel Bridge will be closed for road work starting this spring. Does anyone have any solid info on this and will it be closed this coming week? Also will the adjoining parking lot be closed this week too? And are they using those L.A. freeway K-rails in the Valley again now?

I have a campsite reservation that runs from May 3-7. If they exerted the closure to, say, May 4th, will they cancel my entire reservation, or just shorten it to May 4-7? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone that has insight on this. Thank you.
They are reopening the campgounds 5/1. You should be good to go.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I've been making Yosemite camping reservations yearly now for about 30+ years , starting with Ticketron, then phone reservations, then some other computer booking app, and now this one. Recreation .gov is by far the best one so far. The secret is you have to plan ahead and know your booking windows dates, which are easily found on the website and the National Park websites. Booking a year ahea

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion It looks like they are still not addressing the cause of the afternoon backups from the Lower Falls/Yosemite Lodge crosswalk back to Stoneman Bridge. It is due to no pedestrian control at the crosswalk. Only a couple of cars can get through at a time due to the constant flow of pedestrians stepping out and stopping cars. There needs to be 24hr. crosswalk control there, either a pedestrian light

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Am I reading the new shuttle bus routes map wrong or now (effective 5/17) in order to get from Yosemite Lodge to the east end of the Valley (or Yosemite Village) you can no longer catch that bus across the road from the Yosemite lodge registration building but have to catch it in front of the building and go west all the way down to El Cap crossover and then east back past Sentinel and Cathedra

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Does anybody know if Degnan's still has free wi-fi and if so what the password is? Also does anyone know if they have closed the parking lot behind Yosemite Village's general store yet for that planned re-paving/construction project?

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I hope they don't expand this. The current system is a type of pseudo lottery already without the extra step and paying $10 for about the same odds to get a site. Just read up on the procedure and be ready on the appropriate 15th of the month and push
the enter button at 7 a.m. and hope you get a site...kind of like a lottery. The complainers are usually the ones who come out of the fog about

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Since there are no shuttle buses running this summer there is a lot more traffic in the Valley as people who usually would have taken the shuttle buses are now driving their own cars around the valley and parking is in short supply.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Does anyone know if you can leave a RV parked in this pkg. lot over night if it is not occupied or slept in? We may be camping for 4 days in the valley, then pull the trailer home, and 3 days later my sister would go back up there pulling the same trailer and camp for 4 days. Trying not to have to tow the trailer back home, and then have it towed back up there 3 days later. I've seen RV's parked

Hi Everyone,
I managed to get a last minute spot this weekend for upper pines 43.
Problem is my trailer is 26 foot, 31.5 foot end to end.
The site says it can handle an rV up to 35 and trailer 24 foot.
Anyone have experience with this site? I find the limits tend to be conservative most sites, hoping this is one too.. I checked campsite photos that I could find and it see

General Discussion I would imagine that the reason for the 12' limit is that after subtracting 16ft. for the tow vehicle it only leaves about 14' for a trailer. But you're right, it looks like they could probably hang multiple feet of the trailer over and behind the bumper (those picnic tables are movable). If worse came to worse you could put the trailer there and find somewhere else to park the tow vehicle. Hike

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Here's a better picture of your site....Looks like that bumper on the pad is gone, but you are supposed to keep all your wheels on the pavement...Let me know how it works out.
